BURTON’S GOING TO MAKE ME BROKE

(Big White this year taken with my fisheye)
So, the Burton Series 13 site finally went live and I’ve been spending a little too much time on the site, which is tempting me to spend a little… okay a LOT… of money on a snowboard.
I’ve been thinking about buying a new snowboard this year… but I want something designed specifically for powder. The last half of last season I spent pretty much trying to avoid groomers, and spent most of my time hunting for powder stashes in the trees. I want something that can handle the heavy “Wet” coast powder, and make some great slashes in thickly treed areas and backcountry. I’ve decided that the Burton Fish is the board I’m looking for. (More on new 08/09 boards soon in a future blog post)
Anyway. So go check out Series 13. It is freaking awesome. Your own custom board. Expensive of course, but still awesome.
If you make your own design… be sure to post it up in the comments so I can see it!!!
In other news… I had lunch today with Allan and Ben at Shabusen. For those of you who don’t know, it’s an excellent Japanese restaurant where you can get cheap All-You-Can-Eat, a la carte, as well as Korean BBQ. I honestly have never seen anyone eat so much food in my life. The two boys ordered 3 Chicken teriyaki, 1 vegetable teriyaki, 2 beef teriyaki, 8 dynamite rolls, 1 cone of something, 6 spicy salmon rolls, 6 salmon sushi, a huge plate of spicy tuna sashimi, 8 gyoza, fried rice, 4 spinach gomae, and another pork dish. That’s a lot of food for two people. I had an order of chicken teriyaki… that’s it. Anyway, they demolished it, and didn’t leave anything on their plates.
That amount of all-you-can-eat sushi = CRAZY!

I’m jealous.. I need a new winter ride. Every year I need something new – board is on the list this year if I make it back in time for the pow.
Didn’t you get a new board last year…or was that that year before?

Good lord, I could go crazy coming up with board designs… This is just the tip of the iceberg for me here, but here’s my stab at it:

Sweet board Mike!
If you are feeling the top deck design buzz, consider the fact that most people will see the tail of your board while lining up to get on the chair and any graphic under the binding inserts instantly gets covered.

all you can eat sushi?
the best place in the WORLD is BC Sushi on the corner of w broadway and arbutus. sashimi falls from the sky. it’s pretty much like mecca.

You don’t want the fish. You just need something a bit longer and with a wider waist. The fish pretty much sucks on anything but powder. So unless you’ve got access to Choppers, Cats, or Sleds you’re better of putting your dollars to something a bit more universal.

Thanks Allan! I was figuring on taking a screenshot of the desired board, doing up a narrow painting to match the porportions, and put all the effort in the visible zones. I’m just disappointed you can’t seem the change the color of the font on the bottom.

Kyle: Yeah! I got a board a year and a half ago… I’m not going to get rid of my current one. It’ll still be great for groomers and all mountain stuff. But it’s HORRIBLE when there’s powder, so that’s why I’m looking for a powder board for those good ol’ snow days.
P.S. I’m so glad you found my blog and commented!
Mike: I love your board design!!! I gotta see what yours looks like once you’ve adjusted it for the bindings etc. Colour scheme is AWESOME.
Sean: Yeah you’re totally right. I’m not saying Shabusen is the best, but hey, it’s all you can eat.
Jimmy: Yeah you’re right. I’m planning on going catboarding this year, but yeah, I don’t want to buy a board just for one-time use. I’m hoping there’s lots of powder multiple times this year. I was actually thinking of getting the Malolo but I kinda got tempted by the custom Fish board. I doubt I’ll be able to afford that anyway. Thanks for the advice though! I’m always looking for good snowboarding gear info!
