BACK TO WORK

Waiting in Motion

For the past two weeks while on vacation I’ve been dreading going back to work. Not for any particular reason except that snowboarding, sitting around, watching movies, and making movies seems like a lot more fun than working!

I’m happy and surprised that today when I stepped back into the office, I felt invigorated. I felt excited about my job, my coworkers, and the project that I am working on. I love how my job is challenging… how I have to really work at it… and how I have to use my education, experience, and of course — my brain.

I’m excited to start Toastmasters next week and see how it can improve my confidence, speaking skills, and how I can contribute to the company. I’m excited to try my hardest, not slack off, and really make a difference as much as possible.

I love vacation as much as anyone. But I feel very grateful to have a job in the video game industry where I can use my intelligence, am not underestimated for my age, where I can go to the gym in the morning, and go boarding after work or on the weekends! A win-win situation, really :)

I’m working on putting together a little video from snowboarding over the holidays but it might take me a couple days while I get back into the swing of things here at work.

How are you enjoying getting back to work?

P.S. Don’t forget to watch the World Juniors Gold Medal game… Canada vs. Sweden at 4 PM Pacific Time! So excited.

Even though I work from home I don’t feel refreshed from the little break I’ve had. I just don’t want to work anymore I just want to hang out, go riding, do things other than work! lol

Just need to get blogging up there I guess so I can replace it with my current salary ;)

  2. Kimm Says:

I didn’t I just worked right thought, its mola and being out of work for 6 months it’s nice to be back earning mola instead of just spending it.

Now if you can teach me how to surf and or wake board.. I’d be happy. :p

The best companies know it’s all about empowering employees to do their best. Sounds like you work for a great company.

Going back to work today was tough, but it was an okay day when all was said and done. I’m glad you had a good return!

Indeed Allie – as condohype said, it sounds like you’re working for really a great company and I envy you that. It’s an amazing feeling to enjoy your work!

  6. Mike Says:

I’ll be able to answer that question of “how am I enjoying getting back to work” in a week. ;)

I do know that I’m going to be sitting at a new desk, on a new project, and I’m officially a lead on it. Excited? Yes. Nervous? Oh yes.

Yeah I was at the office watching the World Juniors and “working”. What a game! All best in 2009 and have fun back at work. I wish I had some vacation time over the holiday :(

Tyler, I know, it’s just not enough of a break eh! I feel your pain! Riding all the time would be awesome :) One day I want to be able to work from home… that’s definitely my dream.

Kimm, earning moola is definitely good! Haha, I’d be happy to teach you how to surf but unfortunately I’m completely clueless when it comes to wake boarding…

condohype, ah my favourite anonymous realist! I really do like my company… you’re right, empowering employees is extremely tricky but when you can do it, it always pays off.

josh, glad to hear your return to work was alright! That’s all we can hope for mostly :)

Sean, thanks! I still would love to do freelance though… what a rush! I know you love your work too :)

Mike, yes you are a lucky jerk aren’t you.. still on vacation! *jealous*… I’m really happy you got the Lead job… congrats… keep me up to date on how it goes! What an exciting time for you :)
