I’m in much the same boat. Over the summer I was getting very excited about the prospect of a heli trip in AK this season. The way everything went down, I ended up having to scale the entire season back.

Sometimes things happen in life that you can never really plan for, no matter how prepared you are. I consider myself to be someone who is very well prepared for many aspects of life.

This time it is different. Once I am able to make more educated decisions about what to do, I can start going on trips again and living the life I like to live. For now though, the smartest thing for me to do is sit tight. I’ll still be taking risks, just in different ways.

Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate your feedback. It’s true, I really do have a long way to go in terms of maturity.

Interesting that you say that allie yet you have to cancel plans due to “personal reasons”.

Perhaps some irony?

Maybe if you did not take so many silly risks you would not have to cancel plans.

Agreed on photowalks that could be a good one..when it’s not pouring.
Skating at the Olympic Oval(I’ve been wanting to do that for awhile now!)
Rockband/Hot Shots Golf Tournaments. Collage making..(haha) Reconnecting with old friends over tea( good for the soul)

Photowalks are always fun. Lot’s of places to go in Vancouver and the surrounding area. So I agree with mike’s recommendation.

I’ve heard snowshoeing is fairly cheap to do too. We’ve been wanting to try it this year too.

Just throwing out the suggestion that you can go on daily “photo walks” – I’ve just learnt of this concept from an old classmate… Basically they force themselves to go for a walk (or get somewhere further away by bus or car, then walk around that area) and just snap photos. Be it candid people-in-life, still life, landscapes, or that strange splodgy looking thing growing between the sidewalk cracks… In other words, just getting out there and having fun with the ‘hunt’ of interesting things to take a photo of.

Knowing that you’re a shutterbug, this should be right up your alley – you could photog Vancouver’s lesser seen facets (we’ve all see the skyline photos everywhere – but what about that tiny park here or there?)

There’s geocaching (http://www.geocaching.com/), it covers the adventurous and outdoors part. All you have to do is add a camera, a hockey stick, and turn it into a sport.

The last part is a little tricky, maybe you could come up with ‘Xtreme-Geocaching’ by stashing geocaches in perilous places or something.
