NEW BURTON 2010 SNOWBOARDING GEAR LINEUP

Just when you think your new snowboarding gear is still shiny and new, the snowboard companies come out with their next year gear previews. Yup, 2010 snowboard gear previews are already here. And heck yeah… Burton’s new stuff looks siiiiiick. Ah, darn this consumerist lifestyle we lead!

As much as I wanted to, I didn’t end up buying any new snowboarding gear from Burton this year. My old stuff was still good and I couldn’t really justify spending money on new stuff. Next year though… I’ll need to replace my poor busted board (”Miss Feelgood”, as my friend at the Board Room repair shop calls my board since he’s fixed her up so many times).

So what’s coming up from Burton next year? Gorgeous, bright, poppy colours that’ll show up great in photos and really stand out (if you can call bright-coloured gear amongst bright-coloured gear standing out…). I’m also really liking the solid colours on the new 2010 Burton boots and bindings. And fairly minimal board deck and base design with lots of colours and shapes. Overall, a pretty interesting lineup!

The guys over at Snowbroader have snapped some shots from the Snow Avant Premiere in France. Check them out! Note: All photos are fully credited to Snowbroader. Check out there site if you’d like to see more 2010 previews, like Rome and DC, and more pics of the Burton gear.

New 2010 Burton Custom Boards and the Burton Fix on the right. I’m loving the colourful Custom boards! Great design idea.

Solid coloured boots and bindings. I especially like the red on purple. (Seems like that’s the fave colour combo for next year)

New Burton 2010 ConDOM board. Check out the little drawing at the bottom ;)

Base for the new 2010 Burton Hero. Not too sure what I think about the beach ball in the “O”… not really liking this design much. The 2009 Hero was way cooler looking.

New for this year, the Burton Method snowboard. The Bros say it is super light, and a blunt twin freestyle board. Interesting.

And for the ladies, the new 2010 Burton Lipstick board. I LOVE IT! Especially the black lipstick and vampire teeth marker on the top of the board. Yeaaah! I would definitely pick up this board if I was a park girl (but I’m not). Damn, why do the park boards always have the coolest decks?

Speaking of which… every time I think about getting a Burton Fish, I can’t help but feel disappointed with the graphic design on it. I know I shouldn’t be so concerned with appearances (especially when riding powder).. but geez… a little more than a splash on green on a white base with a COMPLETELY white top would be nice! Burton! Give us something that’ll stick out a little more on photos for a board as sick as the Fish!

The Burton Grail and Zone snowboard boots. Purple and yellow! Yes!

I really like the solid red bindings. Not sure what model this is but it sure looks neat. I’m pretty sure Allan would LOVE to have these to go with his brown and red colour scheme.

So that’s it so far. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for more upcoming Burton gear.

I have only one wish so far.. please Burton. Make the 2010 Malolo NOT with a fruity design on it. Something cool. Colourful. Simple, but bold. Otherwise you’ll force me over to Series 13!

So that’s it folks. It’s the snowboarder that makes the gear, not the gear that makes the snowboarder. Right? RIGHT?! ;)

ugh… im sorry but burton is garbage

  2. Kimm Says:

I like Burton …. I’m still debating if I need/want to get a new pair of snowboarder pants as I use them for when I coach and or at my own dragon boat practice in when it’s raining.

  3. Tawcan Says:

And I thought snowboarders wear funny clothes…now they have funny looking boards and funny looking shoes. Looks like they’re trying to bring back the 70’s skiing clothes back or something.

  4. Mike Says:

Gah, the colors! Seriously, I hope they have an evil year in the future, as these are way beyond too colorful and cheery for my tastes… But then again, it means that *I* will stand out on the slopes, garbed in black with reds (especially the ribcage I painted on the back of my jacket), on a skull-heavy board. :D

  5. Tim Z. Says:

I was never that big a fan of Burton (even though I ride Ions-Cartels boots/bindings), and can’t really imagine getting a Burton board anytime in the future, although I used to toy with the idea of riding a Fish/Malolo/T6. I must say their gear is usually pretty fresh, and their AK apparel line has always been pretty classy.

I much prefer the smaller, independent companies (my East Coast deck is an Arbor Mystic, while my all-mountain is a Never Summer SL). I’m also intrigued by Nidecker and Venture boards as well, but my brand loyalty goes to Never Summer hands down (I’ve been actively pursuing a good price on a Legacy-R); gotta love a small company out of Colorado whose name matches their ideology!

Looking at Snowbroader though, the Rome lineup for next year will definitely deserve some attention. All of these new innovations going into camber and edge tech is unavoidable; at this point Magne-Traction is almost commonplace, reverse camber has even found its way to my beloved Never Summer, and we have boards like the TRice Banan Hammock and GNU Park Pickle available to us. So many choices!

But yes, as we all get our gear obsessions off our chests, it is certainly the boarder that makes the gear (although with all these variations, it make be a chore for the boarder to find his/her optimal setup). Long live consumerism and the paradox of choice! lol

  6. vxla Says:

I’m still not convinced on the two bolt design of the ESTs. If one bolt fails, or loosens, you may be out of luck.

  7. Urban Dweller Says:

That is some sick stuff. I love Burton! Thanks for posting this as it allows me to escape reality for a bit :) Go consumerism go!

  8. fish Says:

Yeah neons and solid colors with stripes seem to be in these days. But screw all that, being an individual is more fun than buying what the industry tells you. Earth tones FTW!

  9. fish Says:

Oh yeah and functionality should be so much higher on your list when buying new gear… rather than cosmetics. I don’t really like the graphics on my new skis, but they are a beeeeeast on ANY terrain and at insane speeds (I love straight lining)

  10. Andrea Says:

Hey! Just discovered your blog; nice work! Good to see other female snowboard bloggers out there… :-) In Vail over the weekend, we checked out the Burton shop and they have some sick stuff on the market (made my 10 year old Troop look like a toothpick!) I really want to demo their new blender – the new raised edge technology is awesome! Can’t wait for their 2010 line to debut!

  11. josh Says:

Burton should send you a free board ;) . Nice job!

  12. Vancity Allie Says:

fish! You skier you. What are you basing that on? I realize that they are the big bad wolf… but they also have great technology. I know so many friends who have poo-poohed Burton for years, buying other brands etc… and now, they are all back on Burton boards because their base technology is the best. That being said, I think there’s a lot of great innovation going on at other companies (e.g. Lib-Tech) that Burton really needs to catch up too. I still like Burton though but I’m not Burton-exclusive :)

Kimm, snowboard pants are useful for ANY situation! :D

Tawcan, shuuuusssssh! ;) Haha yes I definitely like the bright colours and the 70s style skiing clothes. You know, it’s really funny and I have a blast on the hill … it’s kinda like getting to play dress up. You know you’re silly, and everyone else is silly, but everyone is having fun because it is silly :)

Mike, haha, if you had your way it would be black and skulls on everything! But you and I differ quite a bit of tastes in general :) I love that you customized all your stuff though, that’s really rad.

Tim Z, yes, the Malolo and Fish are so tempting right! I love the idea of the small local company too. Prior, Arbor etc. But I think they need to catch up a bit in terms of base tech. Too slow sometimes. Once that’s even I’d much rather go with them. Especially Prior. Their powder boards are rad. Check ‘em out! And haha yes, paradox of choice is right.

vxla, so far everyone I know who has it says they like it and haven’t had any problems. I think it’s a big improvement from the previous channel-style system they had before. So far so good but only time will tell.

UD, Haha no problem. Hopefully some people will spend some money on the economy to make up for my current lockdown! If anything makes me feel consumerist… it’s definitely Burton! :)

fish, yep functionality is definitely highest on my list before anything else. I saw your new skis on Facebook, they look rad!

Andrea, thanks for dropping by :) So neat you got to check out the latest Burton stuff at Vail! JEALOUS! Keep on blogging!

    josh, I wish ;)

fish graphics lacking?! i have the 09 fish ltd and its timeless and the regular fish with the old performer graphic is even better! and 09 fish has all the new shit in it, s-rocker, swallowtail, est channel. two bolts is better than 4 for sure!

i do agree they need to step it up on the malolo, which i think is what that white base, green graphic board is, not a fish. i haven’t been too hyped on the malolo since thomas campbell (http://www.thomascampbell-art.com/) did the graphics on the 06 or 07 board which was the best one to date.

  14. hoon Says:

thanks allie. btw love the photos on some of your other posts. i’m stoked on the burton graphics for 09. may need to finally pony up for a malolo but the vrocker sorta negates the need for a pow specific board IMO. but i want more thomas campbell-style graphics.

EST is real. I love the two bolt setup. Can’t wait to see the 4-bolt response by some of the other companies.

  15. psikat Says:

I’m pretty staunchly against Big B for no other reason than i like the idea of garage companies making it in this game. However, i’ll always have a fish. Other companies try but few have the courage to put out a float board quite that x-treem. I’ll get to my point; I hit brighton this morning with 3′ of cold smoke and ran into some burton kid who was riding next year’s (2010) fish, and i have to say i love it. The graphics are a little boring (except for the lime green base) but after staring it down i stated to get it. The board has a more pronounced rocker, and surfboard style rails which apparantly make it better on hardpack. All in all, it’s a beautiful piece of work. i was going to snap up this year’s performer graphic fish but after seeing this one I’m going to hold on. i live in SLC, I ride a 153 butter board, a fish on any day more than 6″, and i’m as happy as a pig in deep clover.

  16. Ang Says:

Hey Fish, how can you be saying Burton is garbage. your a skier for gods sake! Personally, i think Burton is the most insane stuff you can get! I love it! BURTON RULES!

  17. Ang Says:

Also the new stuff is sweet!

Brutal, just f_cking brutal, I’m glad I bought my burton gear last year. Worst lineup I’ve ever seen. Ugly colors, plain looking, just nasty. Next board will be a libtech for me.
