LOCAL SNOWBOARD EVENT THIS FRIDAY
If you’re in the Vancouver/BC area and looking for something rad to do Friday night… I recommend checking out this double header of local snowboard events. I’m super excited!
I’m heading to the Westbeach store grand opening on this Friday, November 6th. Setting up on Vancouver’s “snowboard row” on West 4th, doors will be opening at noon on Friday and you can shop till 8 pm. The address there is 1758 West 4th Ave. At 8:30 pm, they will also be hosting a party celebrating the grand opening as well as the veryREALLY movie premiere pre-party… party will go until about 10 or 10:30.
And then…

veryREALLY is a local snowboard movie featuring local Canadian riders and brands. From the production company Random Large Text, the film features riders from all over Canada, including: Nate Butcher, Jeff Thorne, Cam Rodenm, Bradley Hesson, John Graff, Scott Sych and many others. The movie will be shown at Tunnel Lounge (622 West Pender). There is a $10 cover but $5 will be donated to the Snowrider Foundation, and there will also be tons of giveaways from Pacific Boarder and Westbeach. Doors open at 10 pm and the movie will be on at 11 pm.

I hope to see you guys there! This is a great time to get out and support local mountains, riders, shops, and brands. Quite a few people are going, you can check out the Facebook event here.
Anyone thinking of heading out for this? In other news, have any of you picked up your snowboard gear (outwear, boards etc) for this year yet?

Don’t have plans for Friday night (that I can think of) though I don’t think I’ll be heading that way lol.
Reminds me though, I do need some new boots! Thinking of going with quick-lace boots, or whatever they are called. But I do definitely want new boots this year, because my current Burton boots are um.. a Whistler Special
I did pick up new Dragon goggles though and looking forward to using them this year over the shitty old Smith ones I was borrowing from Robyn.
Hey, those signs are from Cypress! What can we do to make it snow on our local North Shore Mountains?? hehe

I’d love to go, but i’m just gonna have to support the riders and westbeach by ordering my stuff online. Have a great time whomever ends up going!

Haha good eye Tyler
Those signs are indeed from Cypress. Wish it would snow a bit more on our local mountains too! Go go go, can’t wait to snowboard… although I will definitely be at Whistler opening day in a couple weeks
Shame I won’t see you there on Friday!
Yes, quick lace boots are awesome… Burton calls them the “Speed Zone” lace system. Are you getting Burton boots? There are also lots of other great brands that have awesome boots out there too.
Nice one on the Dragon goggles!

Funny you should mention, cause I will be in the area this weekend for a girls trip. I’m passing on the information for christmas ideas for cousins. Thanks for the info!

I got this sweet Nikita jacket for this year. I want to get Thirty Two Lashed boots, but Im waiting to see if I can find a good sale or a discount or something! I also got a new helmet, a Bern Muse. They’re killer, safe and super stylish

I’m just used to all my gear being Burton
Kind of like how my first digicam was Canon so my dSLR is Canon. same goes for my gear, unless you can recommend some brands to look at
I have a $150giftcard for SportChek, so when they start to stock stuff, I’ll have to take a peek in there and see if their boots are any good.

Allie, I don’t snowboard or really even ski and your photography totally captivates me.

The Boardroom is having a 20% off sale starting tomorrow if you print the coupon from http://www.boardroomshop.com/main/email_letter/09_11_02/index.htm or starting Saturday otherwise.
I’m still trying to track down a new board – if I could find one of the ones on my list I’d buy it immediately. New pants are probably on the list too (but I’ll give that waterproofing wash/spray a go first), gloves are as always (I go through a few pairs a season), but other than that I’m READY!
I even have a new snowboard rack for my car for this season! Now I can cram my car full of people, their junk, and yet not have to worry how the boards are going to fit! More people to ride with! WOOHOO!!!
Oh, and no 1.5m knives sitting right behind my neck rest. That’ll be nice.
Oh, and I’m almost-confirmed as signed up for a trip to Sun Peaks at the end of January (the EA trip), and will be possibly looking into other trips too due to not being able to hit up Whistler or Cypress much during the peak of the season. Unfortunately work is going to be crazy busy again at that time, so I won’t be able to do a proper holiday in the interior… just weekend trips.

I bought all new socks and a few new baselayers, plus a hat or 2 and miscellaneous tools/wax. I also picked up a new Rome Blue in the spring at a really, really deep discount and found a pair of Rome Madison’s in October.
@Chelci – I wanted that Nikita jacket, but I could only find it in a XS. I was a little bummed
@Richard – I am still on the hunt for my my snowboard rack. Any recommendations? I was thinking Thule because it requires less extra lock investments than Yakima, at least I think.

Allie, is that last photo of the mountains your photo? It is truly stunning!!

I was gutted to learn about this sale (at the Boardroom) and that I’d be back up in Ft MacKay during it. I’ve my heart set on my very first snowboard: Burton’s Supermodel. Alas, I shall pay the full price but be a very happy bunny.
Hope you had fun!

I love how outdoorsy you are. Did you know I almost went to Tofino this weekend? It was all your inspiration.
