A DAY AT WHISTLER AND A $500 VOLCOM SNOWBOARD JACKET CONTEST
This past Saturday, Allan and I headed up to Whistler Blackcomb for a gorgeous, sunny blue bird day of snowboarding fresh powder. It was quite busy up there, but we still managed to find our stashes of powder.
We also brought along our new GoPro HD Hero helmet camera to capture some of the action. For those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you know that we had the regular GoPro camera before. I can say that the HD is a real nice upgrade. Much clearer photos and videos! Hopefully I’ll be able to edit the videos into a little movie soon.
Here I am wearing my new Volcom jacket and pants (both Gore-tex)… I’m loving how the wide angle really captures everything!

Even Allan got into the fun of it and attached it to his helmet for a while.
You’ll notice most of the shots are from the back of my board… we used the suction cup that we normally use for surfing to attach it to the back of the board… but be warned… sometimes it falls off in the deeper powder and you really have to keep an eye on it, or tether it to your board 
All in all, a really fun day… and really nice to get back onto the mountain for some boarding. Josh absolutely LOVES his GoPro HD (at this point mostly used on his motorcycle and mountain bike, though we did get a bit of snowboarding footage with it a couple weeks ago). Pretty radical

Allie! It’s been a long time. I’ve just started following your blog and you are making an Ontario girl jealous. I wish we had the powder and sunny days you are getting out there. We are making do with man-made snow, but at least it is something. I hope all is good with you. The coat you are rocking in your blog is great and could use one for these cold Ontario winters.

great weather. too bad the lift lines were sooo long.
anyways, her jacket’s zipper broke. Plus the jacket didn’t have the pant-to-jacket zips, so at the end of the day, after multiple falls into the fluffy white pow, her pants were completely soaked.
This will be a great jacket for her!

Lovin’ the new GoPro shots. It’s on my list of things to get! I’ve got the GoPro Surf HERO and it is risky business to use the suction cup as we’ve had some close calls in the surf. I love the colour combo you’re wearing for your snowboarding wear. Finding that you can be more creative, funky, and colourful with the outfit. Did you see the ‘worn jeans’ pants that the US team is wearing? Those are pretty cool.
I think we might have seen you blazing by with that camera. We were at Whistler last weekend too and boarding on Blackcomb. My friend saw someone carving by with a camera on the helmet. We thought that was pretty cool but don’t think it’ll be as steady on us (or the camera be still intact). Hope I win the jacket because right now my outfit blends in with the forest.
