SATURDAY AT THE HORSE RACES
This weekend was ridiculously chaotic… we went to the horse races on Saturday, then off to photograph a friend’s wedding in Whistler, and Sunday was our engagement party at my parents’ house. I’ve got a huge photo backlog but hopefully I can get some up over the next couple weeks.
The Horse Races is an annual event that Allan and his friends have been doing for several years. This year was my second (you can see last year’s horse races post here)… and it is always an amazing time.
The best part of the annual Horse Races is getting to go to Hastings Racecourse and dress up! Big hats, pearls, and your Sunday Best is a must! Here I am with my huge hat!
Of course, betting and cheering for your horse is all part of it!

Super stylish! You guys all look awesome! Special props to my “best on fields” – Trev & Sheena.
The way you guys did it is what I’m used to from the track meets back home in Brisbane, Australia. I was so disappointed to find out that Hastings didn’t follow the trend… but you guys sure added a little class to the day!

Hi Allie!
I remembered reading your post on the horseraces last year, and I went to the mascot races this year not realizing it was the same thing. I was there cheering on breadhead, who actually is my boyfriend, haha.
I totally unintentionally went in a large sunhat, too! Lots of fun.
The trophies are still in the trunk of my car, haha.

Allie you look great! Love all your portraits of your friends – they all look so glamourous in their hats. Your hat is the best by far though! I love going to the horse races in hong kong but I’ve never been to Hastings park. One of these days.
