THE YEAR OF FUN
We’re finally back from our honeymoon! When we first got back into town, it was a big shock. Five weeks away from work, home, and reality. Even the weather felt strange… it was like we skipped summer and went straight to fall. When we left town in early September you could wear a t-shirt outside in Vancouver and be sweating bullets… and when we got back, you could literally see your breath it was so cold.
That wasn’t the only reality check! After weeks of cruising, even just small tasks like doing laundry and cleaning our apartment felt strange. It really started to sink in the first time we went grocery shopping at Granville Island and started cooking — that we were finally home. It felt good.
Many of you have asked me for wedding pictures, and they are coming!
Here is one we love…Allan and I on the rocks in Ucluelet, BC with some west coast fog in the background:

I can’t wait to put together posts on all the details and also a video compilation of all the different clips we’ve received. Even though it was already a month and a half since the wedding, it feels like it was just yesterday. Stay tuned!
We’ve been back for about two weeks now, and we’ve pretty much immersed ourselves in cleaning the apartment (soooo much wedding junk, boxes everywhere!), going back to work, filling up our social schedules with seeing friends and family, writing thank you notes, and going through the gazillions of photos from our honeymoon.
I’ve been calling this year the “Year of Fun” around my friends, as the past year was pretty much a write-off in terms of saving for the wedding and being busy day, night, and weekends with planning and prep. This coming 12 months I plan on living life to the fullest.
Here are just a few of the things we have in the works for the Year of Fun:
- Surfing in Hawaii
- Throwing many, many dinner parties with new and old friends and hanging out more with friends in general
- Vegas weekend
- New York weekend
- Tofino surf weekends
- Snowboard trips to various mountains
- Snowboarding a lot at Cypress Mountain
- Blogging more
- Attending a ball or gala
- Finally getting to our photo and video backlog
- More photo walks
- Paying off all our debt despite all of the above! (getting close!)
- Saying “yes” to more things!
Do you have anything fun planned for the next 12 months or so?

That pic is so romantic, and I am so glad you had such great weather for your wedding. I was across the bay at Big Beach that day and am pretty sure it was you and Allen I saw out on the rocks being photographed that afternoon! You looked amazing!

Congratulations on getting married! I somehow came across your blog when I googled “surf and snowboard same day”. I’m glad I did because you’re pretty much living my dream right now. I even just started a blog. So thanks for the inspiration and hope all goes well with your marriage =)
