THE YEAR IN REVIEW IN PHOTOS

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

It’s that time of year again! Time to review 2011 in photos… it was a great year and a busy year, for so many reasons…

January

Holidays 2010

Guess whose wedding shoes just arrived in the mail?! Yay!!! Valentine's present to myself :D

In January we headed over to Vancouver Island to visit Allan’s mom in Courtenay. One of the highlights included touring a beautiful fruit winery! I also started acquiring a number of accessories in advance of our wedding that year, including well… you know me… shoes.

February

What a view! 800 ft of untouched powder and pillows! Woohoo!

Wedding Invitations (DIY)

In February we headed up to Apex Mountain (near Penticton) and I spent the weekend supporting Allan at the annual Apex outdoor ice hockey tournament and snowboarding some untouched powder. We also managed to get our wedding invitations out after tons of hard work doing all the illustrations, designs, and calligraphy ourselves.

March

Sexin' up @bigwhite with @TaraZM yeeeeaaahhhh!

Yay for our work ice hockey team! The only question is... What am I doing with my hands? LOL!

Next we headed up to Kelowna for the annual video game industry ski and snowboard trip at Big White Ski Resort! Much snowboarding, foosballing, and hottubbing ensued. Then it was down to Seattle for the annual work charity ice hockey tournament! That’s me looking dorky in the front!

April

Grandma passed away this morning at the age of 95. Grandma, words can't describe how much I love you and miss you. So much.

Paper hats, beer, rum, patio and sun pre-surf prep in Tofino :) @abeautifullife @coldsurf

In April one of the most special people to me, my grandmother, passed away. It was a really hard time and I really miss her so much still. I wish she could have been there for our wedding, but I’m glad I was able to tell her all about our plans before she left us. Also that month we headed out to Tofino for a surf trip with two of our fave peeps in the whole world, Liv and Rob.

Mascarpone Cheesecake Recipe with Honey-Caramel Apples, Almond Praline and Vanilla Creme Anglaise

3rd run on Fromme.. Here's me doing a bridge on Bobsled. Heard the Kesler goal! Go #Canucks!

Lots more cooking and baking took place heading into the summer, including making a mascarpone cheesecake from scratch. Then it was up to the local mountains for newbie-ing it up at some downhill mountain biking! I’m still learning how to bike…

June

GOAAAAALLLLLL!!! #Canucks

Beautiful day for the driving range!

June was a memorable month as I saw my favourite sports team in the whole world make it to the Stanley Cup playoffs. It was an exciting time and I will never forget the highs and the lows of the playoff run. Here’s hoping for this year! We also went golfing and pitch-and-putting quite a few times in the summer, trying to make the most of Vancouver’s brief summer!

July

My pretty board says hi from Tofino... Time to catch some lefts!

I waaaaaant it that way! #NKOTBSB

The annual surf and camping trip on Canada Day in July was a blast this year, with tons of surfing and friends around… not to mention catching some crabs and roasting them over the campfire. My friend Tara and I also hit up the Backstreet Boys/New Kids on the Block concert with floor seats!

August

At the Horse Races!

Our Engagement Photos!

In August we hit up my friend Amy’s annual event, dressing up for the horse races at Hastings Race Track. Then it was time to tromp around the city in various outfits for our engagement photos by our amazing photographers, Jonetsu Studios.

September

Wedding Photo

Hours and hours of DIY-ing... Sooo much to do!

Allan and I got married in Tofino, BC on September 3, 2011. It was the best day of my life. There was so much lead up to it with a year and a half of planning, tons of crafting, construction, sewing, and insanity. But it was all worth it. I will always treasure my memories from this day and it really was the happiest day for me.

October

The view from our beach house...

A highlight of our honeymoon... lunch at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, London!
From September to October we left on our month-long honeymoon on a whirlwind cruise around Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. There were so many amazing days on our honeymoon, but special mentions go out to surfing in Portugal and dining at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in London, England.

November

AWESOME waves today! Fun lefts! Getting better! #tofino #chesterman #surfing

It's snowing! @cypressmtn First turns of the season!

Following our honeymoon it was back to reality and work, but we still managed to find time to surf and snowboard just a week apart!

December

Seared Scallops with Pea Puree and Double-Smoked Bacon

Christmas Table Setting

To end of the year we decided to stay home and enjoy our beautiful city and cozy up in the apartment together. We threw a dinner party and decorated our apartment. It was a great way to finish off a fantastic year.

And that’s it!

How was your 2011? What were your highlights?

OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!!!!!

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I am SOOOOOO excited to finally be able to share with you our ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS by our amazing photographers Jonetsu Studios!

Yes yes, we got engaged a year and a half ago, but we only just got around to doing our engagement session… what a busy year! Time just flies. Can you believe we are just a week and a half away to our wedding?!?! Just crazy.

Our Engagement Photos!

This is by far our favourite photo from the day. Allan and I climbed up this 8 ft stone structure in the middle of a park in my dress and his suit! Good thing we both spent lots of time climbing things in our childhood ;)

Jonetsu Photography did this deluxe engagement session with us that took place over the course of an entire afternoon and evening. I am so happy and proud to say they are also our wedding photographers. We absolutely cannot wait to share our special day with them and know that we are in good hands. We are friends with about 6 different couples who have also gotten their photos done with Camille and Chadwick Bensler, and the number one thing they say about Jonetsu is they make you feel both comfortable and beautiful. This was 100% true.

Allan and I were both super nervous going into this shoot and within 5 minutes they made us feel relaxed! They let us focus on the connection with each other instead of worrying about how we were looking or what we were doing. I think it’s resulted in some of the most natural photos Allan and I have ever taken! And that’s saying a lot because anyone who knows me knows I am suuuuuuper posy ;)

Without further ado… here are our engagement photos!
