In other news, every year we organize a group ski and snowboard trip through Canadian Outback Adventures… this year we are going to Big White. Leave Friday night on January 29th and come back Sunday night on January 31st so you don’t miss any work.You get 2 nights accommodations in luxury condos with full kitchens, vaulted ceilings, and private hot tubs on the deck… also included is round trip bus transportation from Vancouver, 2 days of lift tickets to Big White, and an apres ski party with free appies.

Last year we sold out our trip, and this year promises to as well. There are a few popular Vancouver bloggers going, not to mention tons of rad people in the Vancouver video game industry, tech industry, and cool guys and girls from all over the world who are flying in for this.

I’ve got a few posts to catch up on… coming up on the blog… some photos from our dinner party on the weekend with the parents meeting the parents (Eeek!), a Christmas party with our friends, and an outerwear round-up post with some reviews and recommendations for snowboard gear this winter. Not to mention our upcoming trip this weekend to Kicking Horse in Golden, BC and Sunshine Village in Banff and Lake Louise, Alberta!

It’s been dumping snow here in BC, and for the past 3 weeks I’ve been DYING to strap on my board and get out there for some snowboarding… but I’ve been sick and low on energy lately. After waiting 3 weeks and just not being able to stand it anymore, Allan and I finally got up to Whistler Blackcomb on Sunday for some FANTASTIC boarding. Although I couldn’t do more than 3-4 hours on the hill, we definitely made the most of it.

It has snowed 259cm in the past week at Whistler, and even though it’s been snowing all the way through the week, we still got an extra 20 cm for our first day of the season yesterday. And it shows.

The runs were ridiculously powdery, even the groomers… although we ended up riding knee-deep untouched powder in the trees all day.

Allan had a great time too… he didn’t get a chance to ride his new board, but he was wearing a perma-grin on his face all day… despite this very sombre-looking gondola shot.

I was stoked on the new Westbeach outerwear this year, although my new white helmet hasn’t come in yet so it looks kind of funny with my green helmet from my old outfit of past years. I rode my new Burton Supreme boots and my new Burton Malolo… and let me just say…

… riding my Malolo in the trees all day let me know that the ‘Lolo was definitely the right choice for me. Oh man.

Here I am in the trees… far, far away!

Did I mention that it was sunny and blue skies for most of the day? We really lucked out! Even the birds came out to play in the snow.
